Notiziario - Aprile 2023

Il mese di Aprile è quello della Pasqua, la festa per eccellenza dei cristiani. Purtroppo quest’anno per me sarà diverso. E’ la prima volta, dopo 34 anni, che non la celebro secondo il calendario della Chiesa Ortodossa! Infatti a Antiochia fin dal 1988 la Pasqua si celebrava insieme agli ortodossi …E’ vero, è sempre la Pasqua. Viverla tuttavia come separati, la nostra chiesa è utilizzata anche dai Siriaci ortodossi, ci si sente a disagio e si vede una Chiesa lacerata. Eppure in questi giorni abbiamo riletto le parole di Gesù nella preghiera sacerdotale Giov. 17,20-21 che lo ribadisce due volte:” Non prego solo per questi, ma anche per quelli che per la loro parola crederanno in me; perché tutti siano una sola cosa. Come tu, Padre, sei in me e io in te, siano anch'essi in noi una cosa sola, perché il mondo creda che tu mi hai mandato “! Preghiamo tutti che questo invito si realizzi quanto prima. E’ una condizione essenziale per l’evangelizzazione e la credibilità. April 2023. Easter occurred in April this year. This is the most important feast for Christians. Unfortunately , this year it was different and for the first time in 34 years I did not celebrate it on the same day as the Orthodox Church. In Antioch since 1988 we always celebrated Easter together. It is true that Easter is always Easter but our church is also used by the Syriac orthodox and it feels strange and divisive to have two separate Easters, particular-ly when we are reading the priestly prayer of John 17:20-21 which states, ‘ I pray not only for these but also for those who by their word will believe in me: so that they may all be one……. Let us all pray that this unity will be fulfilled as soon as possible as it is essential for evangelization and credibility.
